Update on HMRC Performance matters

15 June, 2022

Further to our update to members in February, we are continuing to engage with HMRC regarding their performance standards. In recent months we have been sharing with HMRC the frustration that members are experiencing with current HMRC service levels across all taxes. As noted in February, there was an ambitious goal of significant improvement by April, but feedback suggests that a large number of problem areas remain.

We have recently joined with the CIOT, ICAEW and ICAS to write to HMRC asking for more details about their proposed recovery plans.  A copy of this letter can be found here.

We will consider our next steps on receipt of reply. In the meantime, we continue to press HMRC for improvements.

Thank you to all who have contributed feedback and shared their concerns with us, and please do keep it coming to [email protected]. Specific examples of issues, especially where problems are affecting a number of clients, are very helpful in illustrating the sort of problems that members are facing.
