ATT publish FAQs on tax adviser mandatory registration with HMRC

With significant changes on the horizon from May 2026 for the tax advice profession, we have published a new set of FAQs to support members in navigating the forthcoming registration regime being introduced by HMRC. As implementation approaches, it is essential that firms understand not only the headline requirements but also how the new framework may affect their governance, oversight arrangements and day-to-day operations.

Our FAQs are intended to help members understand their obligations with regard to this new registration obligation and the practical steps they need to take. We will continue to monitor developments closely, including the progress of the Finance Bill 2025-26, and update the guidance as further detail becomes available.
