Preparing for the November 2026 Examinations
The November 2026 ATT examinations will be held via a new examinations platform, RM Assessment Master, with remote proctoring services provided by Talview.
If you are sitting an exam in this session, you must download our Candidate document, read this carefully and follow all instructions within it. Note - this document was updated on 6 October 2026 to correct for a typographical error in Appendix 3, which erroneously referred to the May 2026 sitting instead of November 2026. Apologies for this oversight.
The Candidate Instructions also refer to the RM System Requirements. You should consult this document to ensure that the device you are intending to use for your exam is compatible. See below for comments on use of corporate devices.

ATT exams 2026 – access to resources during the examinations
We have set out below the materials and resources that will be available to you during the November 2026 examination session:
Online access to HMRC manuals
Access will be provided via the exam platform, allowing you to access the relevant area of GOV.UK.
Online access to tax legislation
You will not be able to bring in any hard copies of legislation.
You have a choice of two online products from the approved providers to purchase Online Tax legislation for the exams - Croner and Tolley's Digital Library. These are products produced for student usage and may well be different to the subscriptions your firm provides you with at work. You will not be able to make notes in either product, but you will be able to use highlighting and other useful features that come with your Online legislation.
You must bring your login details with you to the exam.
Access to unannotated PDF copies of Tolley study material for the relevant exam
This will be provided to all candidates on-screen, within the application, during the exam. This includes the relevant study manuals and the corresponding memory jogger.
Tax tables
These will be uploaded to the exam platform, and available on-screen during the exam.
A5 notebook
A common sense approach will be expected in relation to the notebook, with this being approximately A5 size (with a degree of tolerance on the exact size) and up to 2 inches/5 cm thick.
The notebook can contain pre-printed, typed or handwritten notes.

Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments
The deadline for Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustment applications for the November 2026 session was 21 September 2026.
While late applications may be considered, we cannot guarantee to grant accommodations where applications are received after the deadline.
Where you have pre-existing reasonable adjustments agreed with the ATT and require the allowed A5 notebook to be increased in size to A4 as an additional reasonable adjustment, this must have been requested separately by 21 September for the November 2026 session. If you sat an examination in May 2026 and we agreed at that time that the notebook could be increased to A4 size, you do not need to re-apply.
Remote proctoring
The November 2026 ATT exams will be invigilated via a recorded service, delivered via Talview. This means there will not be a live invigilator to whom you are connected for your exam, but your screen will be recorded, and your workspace will be recorded via your web camera.
Unless you have access arrangements/reasonable adjustments giving you extra time or an earlier start time, all candidates will start their examinations at the standard start time (shown on our key dates and deadlines page.
Checking you are ready for the November 2026 examination session
A link at the top of this page is given to full Candidate instructions on preparing for the November 2026 session. Please read it in full and follow all instructions, together with any further instructions you receive via email before the exam.
Corporate devices – a note of caution
Use of ‘corporate devices’ (for example, a laptop provided by your employer that you usually use for your work) to sit ATT exams has proved problematic in the past.
Having consulted with RM on this point, the ATT gave advance warning that they have recommended avoiding use of corporate devices for sitting ATT remotely-proctored exams on their platform. This is because candidates may experience issues with firewalls blocking access to the exam.
Our Candidate Instructions document, found via the link at the top of this page, gives detailed instructions on preparing your device for the exam including troubleshooting tips for common issues experienced with corporate devices, such as conflicting software or firewall whitelisting.
You will also receive a link by email to a Secure Browser Test, which you must use on the device you are intending to use for the exam, which will check whether you can successfully access the RM platform via the secure browser. Our aim is to send out these links by 9 October 2026. The email may come direct from RM Assessment Master ([email protected]) so please add this to your safe sender list and check your spam/junk folders.
However, ultimately you should be aware that if you use a corporate device, it is at your own risk. ATT will not accept responsibility if exams are missed due to device-specific issues.
Practising using the RM application
Prior to the examination, you will need to familiarise yourself with how the RM exam platform works.
To assist with this, a practice test is now available. This test is accessible in your browser (Chrome preferred, Edge supported) and does not require download of the secure browser to access it.
