New HMRC trust helpline number

HMRC has recently made some changes to their helplines to create separate services for IHT and Trusts. This should help to ensure that enquiries are directed to the most appropriate specialist teams and handled more efficiently. 

A new, dedicated helpline number for trusts (0300 322 9640) has been introduced with effect from 9 April 2026. 
This number should be used for queries in relation to Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax for a trust, and any Trust Registration Service (TRS) questions. 

The existing HMRC IHT helpline number (0300 123 1072) is unchanged.
