HMRC launches new Tax Confident campaign
Many people feel overwhelmed and anxious when dealing with tax because they lack basic knowledge about what tax is and how the system works.
To help more people understand their tax position, HMRC have launched Tax Confident - a new campaign designed to help people build the basic tax knowledge they need to feel informed, capable and in control.
The campaign brings together short videos, worked examples and interactive tools that break information down into clear, simple steps - helping to close some common tax knowledge gaps.
Rather than being organised by individual taxes, the website is designed around real-life situations. The sections cover:
- Tax basics – what tax is, how it works and why it matters. This includes a summary of the key taxes most likely to affect individuals.
- Working life – this covers everything from starting your first job to managing tax on multiple income sources.
- Small Business – this covers topics including self-assessment and Making Tax Digital.
- Retirement – learn how your state pension is taxed and how to deal with multiple income sources in retirement.
There is also information about how to get more support from HMRC if you need it via their app and webchat services.
We are pleased to support HMRC in sharing details of their new campaign during Tax Awareness week.
