HMRC launch updated MTD Agent Toolkit
ATT Technical Officer Senga Prior completed a secondment with HMRC from September to December 2025. During this time, she provided independent feedback and insight into the Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax programme, with a particular focus on agent engagement, communications, and support for unrepresented taxpayers.
A key area of her work involved contributing to the update of the MTD Agent Toolkit. The project aimed to transform the existing guidance into a more user-friendly, interactive resource to help agents navigate MTD requirements more effectively.
Drawing on her experience in practice, Senga helped shape a toolkit that mirrors the typical agent journey, from first understanding MTD guidance, to planning for change, preparing their practice, educating clients and staff, and ultimately becoming ready to operate under MTD.
The updated toolkit has now been published on the HMRC website. It is designed to be a helpful resource no matter where agents are on their MTD journey and is well worth bookmarking for future reference.
