HMRC extend helpline opening for MTD second quarterly update deadline
As the 7 November deadline for the submission of the second MTD quarterly update for 2026/27 lands at the weekend, HMRC have confirmed that extra support will be available to help assist taxpayers and agents experiencing any issues or with any queries ahead of submitting the quarterly update.
While HMRC recommend that quarterly updates are submitted as soon as possible and that taxpayers and agents get in touch about any queries before that weekend, support will be available on Saturday 7 November via the Self Assessment helpline (from 9 am to 3 pm) and the usual webchat service (from 8 am to 4 pm) for MTD for Income Tax queries.
HMRC have advised that the Agent Dedicated Line (ADL) will not be available that Saturday, but agents can contact the Self Assessment helpline instead. The Welsh language helpline and helpline for vulnerable customers will also not be available.
Where HMRC cannot resolve an MTD query immediately on Saturday 7 November, they may be able to arrange a callback. Please be aware that this may take place early the following week rather than on 7 November itself.
