Celebrating our volunteers during Volunteers' Week 2026

1 June, 2026

Volunteers' Week (1 – 7 June 2026) is an opportunity to recognise the incredible contribution volunteers make across the UK. Across our Council, Steering Groups, Committees, Branch network, mentoring programme and schools outreach our members and students help provide guidance and support for both the ATT and the wider tax profession.

Whether they are supporting local branches, contributing technical expertise, mentoring fellow members, or inspiring the next generation of tax professionals, our volunteers play a vital role in helping the ATT thrive.

Supporting the ATT and the Profession

ATT volunteers contribute in many different ways. Members volunteer across:

  • Council, Steering Groups and Committees
  • The Branch Network
  • ATT Mentor Match
  • Schools, colleges, universities and careers fairs

Over the past year alone, ATT volunteers helped us reach more than 10,000 students through our schools and careers outreach programme, helping young people better understand careers in tax and the opportunities available within the profession.

With the support and guidance of volunteers, the ATT also made 30 technical submissions and was represented at 48 HMRC groups, helping ensure that the views and practical experiences of members are reflected in discussions affecting the tax profession.

In Their Own Words

“The best decision I have made in my career? Becoming a volunteer with ATT. It changed the way I see behind the professional community, teamwork, and service. Proud to be a part of ATT”

– Puregrace Rydzewski, Member of Member and Business Development Steering Group

“I’ve really enjoyed being a volunteer because of the additional skills I’ve been able to pick up, but also the opportunity to meet so many new people (who are now friends!) that I would otherwise probably not have had the pleasure to meet. It’s also given me the confidence to get involved in ATT leadership by going through the route to President, which is a great way to broaden my skillset and work more closely with the charity.”

– Ele Theochari, ATT Vice President

“It was really rewarding to speak to so many young people who are considering their futures, the energy in the room was electric! I really enjoyed representing the ATT and talking about a career in tax, particularly to many students who didn’t realise what a tax adviser is. It was great to be a role model for students who want to pursue an Apprenticeship instead of going to university, especially as I was one of the first Tax Apprentices back in 2015.

– Chloe Radcliffe-Scott, CIOT/ATT Leeds Branch Chair and Member of Member and Business Development Steering Group

Like many people, I started volunteering because I wanted to give something back, but the real surprise has been how much the ATT has given me in return.  Not only the chance to work with such knowledgeable people who I can learn from, but also the insight into the profession that I do not get to see from my desk.  There is not one single volunteer who does not want to see the profession thrive, raise capability and standards, and equip our members with the skills to meet the challenges of the modern workplace.

A wise man said to me recently that we are simply custodians of the association.  I couldn’t agree more, and if when I have stopped volunteering I leave it in a better way than I found it, I will have an immense pride in the small part I played in shaping that.”

– Tom Wallace, Council member and Vice Chair of the Technical Steering Group
