ATT letter to new Financial Secretary to the Treasury

ATT President Barry Jefferd has written to the new Financial Secretary to the Treasury, James Murray MP to congratulate him on his appointment.  

The letter sets out how we look forward to continuing the strong relationship the ATT built with Mr Murray during his time as Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, and highlights some of our current areas of focus, including:

• The importance of promoting tax literacy and increasing tax education in schools.
• Our 'top ten asks' for the tax system, which include allowing taxpayers to remain in self-assessment by choice, simplifying taxation of the state pension and improving the agent experience.
• The need to review outdated reliefs and allowances.
