End-Point Assessment

Changes to ATT Level 4 Apprenticeship from 2022

Following active engagement with the Education and Skills Funding Agency, Ofqual and NCFE (a National Awarding Organisation which is a registered EPAO for this Standard), we are delighted to confirm that ATT will be working in partnership with NCFE in the delivery of the Level 4 Professional Tax Technician Apprenticeship for End-Point Assessments from 2022 onwards. NCFE will become the End Point Assessment Organisation for ATT’s currently registered Apprentices from 16 December 2021.

This will not affect current funding arrangements, tuition providers can continue to access apprenticeship funding on behalf of employers for apprentices’ tuition for the ATT exams. ATT will remain available as part of an Apprenticeship qualification pathway.

More information on what this will mean for Apprentices and employers can be found here. This information will be regularly updated.

The December 2021 End-Point Assessment will be the last one organised by ATT.

Registration

Submit Portfolio & EPA Registration

Please click on the button above to register for your EPA. You will be able to submit your Gateway form and upload your Portfolio of Evidence as part of this process.

Before registering for your EPA, please take 5 minutes to ensure you have the following:

  • Your Portfolio of Evidence (including the Reflective Statement) ready to upload

  • Downloaded and completed your "ATT EMPLOYER CHECKLIST" form, confirming your employer is happy you are ready for your EPA.  The form can be downloaded here

You will need these details in order to complete your EPA registration and so please do not attempt to register until you have them.

How much does the EPA cost?

It costs £615.  This includes both elements, the Portfolio and the Role Simulation Exercise (RSE).  Apprentices do not have to pay when registering for their EPA, the relevant training provider will be invoiced.

Where can I sit my Role Simulation Exercise (RSE)?

This will be sat remotely. Apprentices will be required to complete the RSE as a Word document and then upload it as a PDF on our website at the end.

The RSE will be live invigilated via Zoom, with an ID check taking place for each apprentice before they are directed to our website where the RSE will be available. Please note: to ensure we meet the General Data Protection Regulations, we will request that you show us your passport as a form of ID, however if you do not have one, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. Full instructions and the Zoom link will be sent well before.

Can an apprentice retake or resit any of their end-point assessment requirements?

Yes they can. However, please note all the end-point assessment requirements have to be passed within a 12 month period, otherwise the apprentice will be required to resit or retake all elements of the EPA, even those elements they have already passed.

An an employer, why should I choose the ATT for the EPA?

The ATT is on the Register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations (RoAAO) for the following apprenticeship standards:

  • Professional Taxation Technician Apprenticeship

This means that we can offer the EPA services leading to certification for this apprenticeship.

Our EPA offer makes sure that training providers and apprentices are prepared fully for the EPA as set out in the Assessment Plan.  You can find the Standard and the Assessment Plan for the Level 4 Professional Taxation Technician apprenticeship here

By choosing the ATT as your EPA organisation you will be assured that:

  • You will know exactly what to expect in the EPA and be able to prepare your apprentices appropriately
  • You have your EPA administered by experienced assessors, trained to understand the context within which the apprentice is working and producing evidence
  • You will be able to access our support documents soon to help ensure your delivery staff are clear about the EPA standards required, how much evidence is sufficient, and whether the apprentice is ready to go forward to the EPA

Feedback

Apprentice feedback can be submitted using the survey here. Your comments will help the ATT and improve the apprentice experience in future.

Professional Taxation Technician Apprenticeship

This is an apprenticeship designed as an entry-level route into taxation. The apprenticeship is at Level 4 and is graded at Pass and Distinction, depending on performance in the EPA.

Individuals in the role of a Professional Taxation Technician will have responsibility for creating, and/or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, HMRC or the accounting function of a business or other organisation.

Examples of roles as a Professional Tax Technician include, but are not limited to, Tax Investigations Officer, Personal Tax Assistant and Business Tax Assistant.

As an apprentice, how does the ATT know I want them to be my End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO)?

As an apprentice, you must be registered with a Training Provider.

Your training provider will provide information to the ATT at the appropriate time so that you can enter for the EPA session you want to sit, after you have been through the gateway and are approved as being ready to sit the EPA.
