Automatic enrolment duties for new employers

If your client becomes an employer for the first time, on or after 1 October 2017, they will immediately have legal duties for their new member of staff. In this meeting we will take you through the duties and the latest news from the Pensions Regulator. There will be time to answer your automatic enrolment and re-enrolment questions.

Focusing on basis periods, a subject that’s prominent around the self-assessment peaks. We will look at the different rules that apply to commencement years, the effect on a basis period when there is a change of accounting date and overlapping periods.

VAT and Motoring Expenses

Providing details of the general rules that apply when reclaiming VAT on the purchase of cars and hiring and leasing vehicles. We will briefly cover commercial vehicles, other motoring expenses and record keeping. There will be the usual opportunity to ask questions.

Simple Assessment is here

HMRC are introducing simple assessment from 11 September. It starts the process of ending the annual tax return for those with straightforward tax affairs. This meeting will explain the new system in more detail, helping you to understand the improvements this will bring to managing your clients tax affairs.

Paying HMRC – What’s Changing

The methods by which HMRC will accept payments is changing. The Post Office Transcash service will be withdrawn in December 2017. Join the meeting to find out about all the alternative electronic payment methods that are available.
