New Trailblazer Apprenticeships in Tax

What are Trailblazer Apprenticeships?

As part of their reform of the apprenticeship system the Government are committed to replacing the existing set of apprenticeship frameworks with employer-designed apprenticeship standards that are more aligned to the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers are looking for.

These new standards-based apprenticeships are referred to as Trailblazer Apprenticeships. One major change in the new apprenticeships is how these will be assessed.  There will be a move from the current model of ongoing assessment to a final assessment at the end of the apprenticeship.

Only organisations on the Register of Apprenticeship Training Organisations (RoATP) can offer training for new apprenticeships, and only organisations on the Register for Apprenticeship Assessment Organisations (RoAAO) can offer end-point assessment services for specific apprenticeships.

The Professional Taxation Technician Apprenticeship

This is a new apprenticeship designed as an entry-level route into taxation. The apprenticeship is at Level 4 and is graded at Pass and Distinction.

Individuals in the role of a Professional Taxation Technician will have responsibility for creating, and / or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, HMRC or the accounting function of a business or other operation.

What can the ATT offer?

The ATT is on the RoAAO for the Professional Taxation Technician Apprenticeship.

This means that we can offer end-point assessment services leading to the certification for this apprenticeship.

By choosing the ATT as your end-point assessment organisation you will be assured that:

  • You will know exactly what to expect in end-point assessment and be able to prepare your apprentices appropriately
  • You have your end-point assessment administered by experienced assessors trained to understand the context within with the apprentice is working and producing evidence
  • You will be able to access our support documents soon to help ensure your delivery staff are clear about the end-point assessment standards required, how much evidence is sufficient, and whether the apprentice is ready to go forward to the end-point assessment.
