First ATT Foundation Qualifications passed in just five weeks

The first person has now passed one of the ATT’s new Foundation Qualifications, and did so in just five weeks.

In October 2017 the ATT launched new online Foundation Qualifications in partnership with Tolley.

The qualifications are ideal for those that work in:

  • Tax – for example junior staff looking to extend their knowledge, book-keepers and anyone looking for the first step towards the formal ATT qualification.
  • Accountancy - including those looking to move over to tax or be seconded to a tax department.
  • Related professions such as lawyers dealing with private clients, or surveyors requiring an overview of tax including capital allowances.

There are currently three different Foundation Qualifications available, covering:

  • Personal Tax
  • Business Tax
  • VAT Compliance

The Foundation Qualifications are provided entirely online and can be worked through at your own pace, allowing you to fit your study in around work and other personal commitments.

It is anticipated that the majority of Foundation Qualifications will be completed in between three and twelve months.  However, as announced in our recent press release, Andrew Millington, 18, of Wigan, completed the ATT Foundation Qualification in Personal Taxation in just five weeks by studying the course two days a week full-time. Andrew was told about the Foundation Qualifications by his employer RSM, where he is undertaking his ATT Apprenticeship (Level 4 Professional Taxation Technician). He will now go ahead and study the Foundation in Business Taxation because he considers the Foundation papers a good precursor for the ATT qualification.

More information on the Foundation Qualifications can be found here and on the Tolley website here
