HMRC Weekly Update No 15

by Site Administrator at 16:13 25/06/10 (Technical news & updates)

Dear Customers and Stakeholders

This is our fifteenth weekly informal update for you and if appropriate, for you to use also with your respective membership; and as with past updates, I would be really grateful if you could always stress the context in which these are sent.

Coding

Last week I mentioned that we had delayed switching on the ECS interface to allow for rigorous testing, but that we had reinstated the interface to clear any backlog of forms. I can confirm that the backlog has now been cleared. We still intend to suspend the interface again just before the peak in mid July to conduct further rigorous testing before re-instating it finally. We will keep you in touch with these plans to help you understand the impact on you and your employees.

Budget 22 June 2010

Following the Budget on 22 June 2010, the Chancellor did not announce any changes to the 2010-11 Personal allowances, Tax Rates and Tax Rate Bands previously announced. As there are no further changes to 2010-11 that affect tax codes, there will not be a Budget recoding exercise. I can also confirm that as there are no amendments required to the following products we will not be publishing Budget editions:

• The 2010 Employer CD-ROM
• Taxable Pay Tables – Manual Method (April 2010)
• Taxable Pay Tables - Calculator Method (April 2010)
• Employer Helpbook P49(2010) ‘Paying someone for the first time’
• Employer Helpbook E12(2010) ‘PAYE and NICs rates and limits for 2010-11’
• P16(2010) -‘Notes to help you fill in P12 Simplified Deduction Scheme card.’
• P7X

CD-ROM

From 1 July 2010 users may see a CD-ROM expiry message. This message will appear each time the CD-ROM is opened. If this happens users should close the message down and continue to use the CD-ROM. I hope to be able to let you know very shortly how to prevent this message appearing.

Kind regards

David
