Conference information
The Branches Conference aims to enable communication and sharing of ideas and best practice between Branches, as well as providing excellent opportunities for continuous professional development and informal networking with other like-minded professionals, CIOT / ATT Officers and staff and senior staff at HMRC.
The Branches Conference is open to Branch officers and committee members from all Branches. Up to three volunteers from each Branch (Officers and / or committee members) can register free of charge. Places are limited and have been allocated on a strictly first-come first-served basis.Conference highlights include:
Patrick Stevens, CIOT Deputy President and Stuart McKinnon, ATT President on their vision for their presidential year
The latest position on key topics relevant to the way in which members in practice will handle client affairs in future:
- David Croad, HMRC and Andrew Gotch, CIOT’s Technical Sub-committee will discuss “Alternative Dispute Resolution for SMEs”
- Brian Redford, Deputy Director Business Costumer & Strategy, HMRC; Geoff Allen, Agent Strategy Team, HMRC and Anthony Thomas, CIOT President, will provide an update on “Working With Tax Agents” followed by a panel discussion moderated by John Whiting.
- A choice of interactive workshops on transferable skills and training on Branch-related work for delegates to select from, including:
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Time management
- Negotiating skills
- Marketing your business with social media
- Planning and organising successful events
- Treasurer’s Forum
- Website Forum
- Chairing and Contributing to Committees

The cancellation deadline was Monday 13th February 2012 (midnight). If you book a place and are no longer able to attend please let us know as soon as possible. You can nominate another committee member from your Branch to take your place.
